Sometimes, these responses are just brush-offs because they don’t want to chat. But more often than not, the person is genuinely busy, and you just caught them at the wrong time.
How Can You Minimize These Missed Connections?
A top-performing industry leader I know shared a game-changing tip: reach out when your contact is less likely to be distracted and more open to talking.
Sounds simple, right? But here’s the key—whenever I connect with someone, I ask, ‘Are you more of a morning person or a night owl?’
Then, I use that information to time my outreach strategically.
Timing Is Everything
If the person is a morning person, I make it a point to reach out between 8-9 AM.
If they’re a night owl, I connect between 5-6 PM.
In both cases, they’re still working, but they’re not swamped with client meetings or other urgent distractions. This dramatically increases the chances of actually having a meaningful conversation.
